Under the ‘Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva’ scheme of the Yogi Adityanath government, 25 lakh youth will be trained in modern technologies like AI, AR, VR. With a budget of Rs 100 crore, this initiative will prepare the youth for employment, startups and the economy of the future.
Lucknow. The new work culture of development in Uttar Pradesh is no longer limited to just roads, expressways and buildings. The state government has clearly indicated that the next decade will be one of building “human capital”. Under this thinking, Yogi Adityanath government has started the ‘Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva’ scheme, whose aim is to train 25 lakh youth of the state in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Extended Reality.
The government believes that competition in the 21st century is based more on skills than resources. In such a situation, this scheme is being considered as part of a broader strategy to prepare Uttar Pradesh for the technology-based economy of the future.
From digital access to digital efficiency
Over the past few years, the state government strengthened digital access by providing a large number of tablets to the youth. Now application based training modules are being prepared linking the same basis with skill development. Through these modules, practical and industry-oriented education will be given to the youth, so that they can directly get involved in employment, self-employment or startups. According to policy makers, this will not be just theoretical training, but a program designed to suit the needs of the industry.

Clear priority in the budget
A provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for this scheme in the financial year 2026-27. This amount indicates that the state government is considering skill upgradation as a central axis of development. The demand for AI-based services and technological innovation is increasing in the rapidly changing global economy. In such a situation, trained human resources can become an important factor in attracting investment.
Direct link to industrial development
Defense corridor, data center park and various industrial projects are taking shape in the state. These projects will require skilled human resources. ‘Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva’ scheme can play an important role in overcoming this shortage. When trained youth are available locally, the process of establishment and expansion of industries will be faster. This will increase opportunities for employment generation and the economic pace of the state can get a new impetus.
Equal opportunities from village to metropolis
A major feature of the scheme is that its benefits will not be limited to metros only. Youth from rural and semi-urban areas will also be able to get training in AI and advanced technologies through digital medium. This will help in reducing regional disparity and providing equal opportunities.
The concept of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” of the state government seems to be coming into practice through such inclusive schemes.
Potential Long Term Benefits
- Increase in technical proficiency of youth
- Direct employment opportunities in AI based industries
- Promotion of investment due to availability of trained human resources at local level
- Increase in possibilities of startup and innovation
- Opportunity for rural and semi-urban youth to participate in global competition
Experts believe that if skill upgradation is done on a large scale at the state level, the challenge of unemployment can be reduced to a great extent.
Manindra Agrawal, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, says: “Training 25 lakh youth in AI and advanced digital technologies is not just a skill development program, but the beginning of a structural change. This step by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government can redefine the state’s economy for the next decade. This will make the youth not just job seekers, but an efficient workforce that attracts innovation and investment.”
Preparing for the future economy
Globally, the nature of employment is increasingly becoming technology-based. In such a situation, this initiative of Uttar Pradesh is being considered important towards providing a competitive and investment-friendly environment to the state. ‘Tech Yuva-Samarth Yuva’ scheme is not just a training program but is part of a long-term strategy to make the youth power of the state self-reliant and self-confident. If implemented effectively, it has the potential to establish Uttar Pradesh among the leading technical skill hubs of the country.
