A 12th class student and BA graduate performed a cesarean operation on a 28-year-old woman at an illegal clinic in Ambedkar Nagar. The woman died due to excessive bleeding. The police have sealed the clinic and arrested the accused.
A shocking case of medical negligence has come to light in Ambedkar Nagar near Lucknow. A 28 year old woman lost her life here. It is alleged that an illegal cesarean operation was performed on her by a 12th class student and a BA graduate in an unregistered and uncertified private clinic. The incident came to light when the woman’s condition deteriorated after an operation earlier this month. In the reports, the woman has been identified as Priyanka. His family members informed the authorities about this. It is being told that this operation was done at Navjeevan Hospital of Bukhiya village. Local police say that this clinic was running for almost five years without any medical license or registration.
According to police investigation, 32-year-old Yogesh Verma, a resident of Malipur, who has only a BA degree, and Shubham Vishwakarma, a 19-year-old class 12 student from Sultanpur, performed the cesarean operation. Both of them had no recognized medical training or qualifications.
Woman dies due to excessive bleeding
After the operation, Priyanka reportedly started bleeding heavily and started having many problems. He was first taken from that unregistered clinic to a nearby health center and later referred to a hospital in Lucknow, but he died on the way. Her family expressed anger over this and started protesting, which brought the matter into the limelight and the police took immediate action. After this the authorities sealed the clinic and an FIR was registered. It is being told that amidst this uproar, the hospital operator Ruby fled from the spot.
The man who helped his father turned himself into a doctor
Initial investigation by police officials revealed that Verma had earlier gained some minor experience while helping his father, a retired ward boy. But he insisted that this made him ineligible to perform the surgery. The investigation is ongoing and both the accused are now in custody. This shocking case has again intensified the demand among health experts and local administrators that medical licensing laws be strictly enforced. Also, there should be regular audit of private hospitals, especially in rural and small urban areas, where unqualified doctors continue to work without any restrictions.
As the investigation progresses, authorities have promised that action will be taken against anyone found guilty of endangering the lives of patients by treating them without the proper qualifications.
