3 arrested for rape of 14-year-old girl by father-relatives in Alappuzha. Sexual abuse came to light after the death of a 6-year-old girl in Ernakulam. Police are investigating both the cases.
Alappuzha (Kerala): The search for the fourth accused in the case of rape of a 14-year-old girl by her father and relatives in Punnapra, Alappuzha has been intensified. The fourth accused is a relative of the victim’s father. At present the father, his sister’s husband and sister’s son have been arrested. The relative who raped the girl after drinking alcohol with her father is still absconding. The police will take the arrested accused into custody and interrogate them further. The girl was becoming a victim of cruelty at the hands of her father and other relatives since 2022. Recently, when the girl told this to her friend, the matter came to light. The girl has been safely sent to Kutumbashree’s Snehita Centre. The victim is the daughter of the father’s second wife.
At the same time, a new revelation has also come to light in the case of death of a 6 year old girl in Elamakkara, Ernakulam. The girl was a victim of sexual abuse, so the police will re-record her mother’s statement. The police will check the CCTV footage of the nearby area to know whether anyone else besides the father was visiting the house or not. On January 16, a 33-year-old father and his 6-year-old daughter were found dead in a house at Ponekkara in Elamakkara police station area of Kochi. The girl died of poison and the father was found hanging. The police had earlier believed that the father killed the daughter by poisoning her and then committed suicide. Even in the initial postmortem, the cause of death was said to be poison. But, during the investigation, the police noticed some strange marks on the girl’s body, about which they informed the forensic surgeon. The detailed postmortem report revealed that the 6-year-old girl was being sexually abused for about a year.
