A very heart-wrenching case has come to light from Mandi district of Himachal. Here, the love story for which a daughter left her parents’ house 10 years ago, had such a dreadful outcome that the soul would shudder upon hearing it. In a small village of Mandi, the dream of love marriage came to naught when the husband allegedly sprinkled petrol on his wife and set her on fire. Now the same daughter is fighting a battle between life and death. Whereas his small children have been separated from both mother and father. The woman has two children, one of whom is said to be 10 years old and the other seven years old.
This incident that took place in Saploh village of Kotli sub-division of Mandi district has shocked the entire area. About ten years ago, Neelam (name changed) had a love marriage against the wishes of her family. Initially everything was normal, but after a year of marriage, cracks started appearing in the relationship. According to family members, disputes over small matters kept increasing and compromises kept happening. But the fight on Thursday took a horrifying turn. It is alleged that the husband, in anger, sprinkled petrol on his wife and tried to set her on fire. The woman got seriously burnt in this incident.
PGI referral for treatment
The injured woman was first taken to the local hospital, then in view of her critical condition, she was referred from Nerchowk Medical College to PGI, Chandigarh. It is being told that his face and hair have been badly burnt. Amidst all this, the woman’s two small maternal children are left alone in the house. On one hand, his mother is fighting a battle between life and death in PGI. On the other hand, his father is behind bars.
Police arrested the accused
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and arrested the accused husband and registered a case of attempt to murder. Vinod Kumar SP Mandi is monitoring the investigation of the case. He has assured a fair investigation. The forensic team has also collected evidence from the spot. Police say that a proper and impartial investigation will be conducted in the case and the culprit will be given strict punishment.
Mother’s side’s allegation: attempt to hide the truth
The victim’s father says that he was first called and told that his daughter had consumed poison, but later the truth came to light that she was burnt in the fire. The maternal side and a delegation of about 50 women met the SP and demanded strict action. Local social workers have also expressed anger over the incident and demanded strict action from the administration. There is silence in the village, and two innocent children are praying for the safety of their mother.
