Nashik (Maharashtra). A case of misbehavior with a family who had gone for a picnic near Bhavadi Dam in Nashik district and chasing them for about 20 kilometers has come to light. When a woman in the family protested against the alleged sexual harassment, the accused attacked her car several times. Police said on Tuesday that at least nine people have been detained in this case. Nashik (Rural) SP Dhondhopant Swami said that the police has expanded the scope of investigation beyond the accused mentioned initially in the FIR.
He told reporters, “After the FIR was filed, we conducted a thorough investigation including video review and technical investigation and have identified nine accused so far. The original FIR named six or seven suspects, but we have also included those who sheltered them or acted as associates. We have now taken nine accused into custody. Further legal action is underway.”
The victim woman narrated the painful scene
- The woman told ANI, “Eight of us from the family had gone to Bhawali Dam on July 12. There, two boys aged 20-25 made comments and teased me. When I scolded them, an argument started. Later, when my husband and brother-in-law reached there, they also confronted those boys. After a while, both of them left from there. But then eight-ten people from their village came and started arguing with us. They started abusing us and Immediately after this we left for Nashik and people with rods started chasing us. They chased us for at least 25 kilometers.

Woman’s husband told that shocking story
The woman’s husband told that during the chase the attackers stopped their car several times. He told ANI, “As we were passing through the toll plaza, a car came and the people sitting in it started attacking us. We broke the barricade of the toll plaza and moved forward on a narrow road. There we were attacked again. We passed through different areas and sought help from the local people. We were attacked about 5-6 times. We directly reached a police station in Nashik. I demand that MCOCA should be booked against these attackers.” Should be imposed.”
The matter reached CM Devendra Fadnavis
- Meanwhile, BJP MLA Devyani Pharande said that the accused were arrested within 24 hours following instructions from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
- Pharande said, “After the attack on tourists by local goons, Nashik Rural SP, acting on the orders of the CM, put the culprits in jail within 24 hours. Nashik Rural Police will deal strictly with anyone harming tourists… Nashik Rural SP is taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again.”
