New Delhi: Jannik Sinner stands just a couple of wins away from clinching his third Grand Slam title this year as he gears up to take on Felix Auger-Aliassime in he semi-finals at the US Open 2025. Defending champion Sinner has been in excellent form in the tournament so far and stormed into the semi-finals after defeating Lorenzo Musetti comfortably in the quarters.
Four-time Grand Slam champion Sinner has shared the last seven majors between him and arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz since Novak Djokovic clinched his 24th Slam at the US Open in 2023. Sinner and Alcaraz have formed a duopoly at the top, marking the beginning of their dominance in men’s singles. While Sinner will battle Auger-Aliassime, Alcaraz will be up against Djokovic in the other semi-final.
Sinner, who defeated Alcaraz in a marathon final to win his maiden Wimbledon title earlier this year, will be hoping to reach his 4th successive Slam final in 2025. The Italian top seed has played some phenomenal tennis in the tournament so far and is arguably the favourite against Auger-Aliassime in the semi-final.
Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime secured his entry into the semi-finals after defeating Alex de Minaur in a gritty quarter-final meeting. The matches lasted over 4 hours before the Canadian came out on top to enter his first Grand Slam semi-finals since 2021. He is now set for his biggest test in the tournament against defending champion Sinner in the semi-finals.
