President Droupadi Murmu Teacher’s Day: At a function held in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day (September 5, 2025), President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Awards to the best teachers of the country. Addressing the function, the President said that for the dignity and security of a person, education like food, cloth and house is also necessary. Wise teachers create a sense of dignity and security in children. Recalling her tenure as a teacher, the President described it as a very meaningful phase of her life. The President said that education makes a person efficient. Through education, children of the poorest background can also touch the heights of progress. Teachers full of love and dedication play the most important role in strengthening the progress of children. The President said that the biggest honor for teachers is that students remember him throughout his life and make commendable contribution to family, society and country.
The President said that the character building of the students is the primary duty of a teacher. Sensitive, responsible, dedicated and moral students are better than students interested in competition, book knowledge and selfishness. A good teacher has both emotions and intelligence and can affect students with the coordination of intellectual-emotional thinking. The President said that smart blackboard, smart classroom and other modern features have their own importance, but the most important smart teachers. Smart teachers are those who understand the elements required for the development of students. They make the learning process interesting and effective with affection and sensitivity. Such teachers enable students to meet the needs of society and country.
The President said that a lot of emphasis should be given on the education of girls. By investing in girls’ education, we make an invaluable investment in the building of our family, society and nation. He said that the most effective way to promote women -led development is to provide the best education to girls. The President highlighted that the National Education Policy of 2020 Kasturba Gandhi emphasizes the development of girls schools and providing special educational facilities for girls from backward classes. But the success of any initiative related to education depends mainly on teachers. The President told the teachers that the more they educate the girls, the more meaningful their life would be. The President urged teachers to pay special attention to girls from all students, especially shy or backward areas.
The President said that the goal of National Education Policy is to make India a global knowledge center. For this, our teachers should be recognized as the best teachers in the world. School education, higher education and skill education, our institutions and teachers in these three fields will have to contribute actively.
