birmingham [यूके]July 14 (ANI): England are batting first in the first ODI of the three-match series at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Tuesday. The Shubman Gill-led Indian team will be looking to start their ODI series with a big win at Edgbaston as many senior players have returned.
Team India is going into this match with three fast bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar, and one medium pace bowler – Shivam Dubey, who is playing his first ODI after almost two years. Virat Kohli is returning to international cricket after almost seven months. He was ruled out of the home ODI series against Afghanistan due to a leg injury.
What did the captain say after the toss?
England had announced its playing eleven a day before the match and has not made any changes in it. At the time of the toss, England captain Harry Brook said, “We will bat first today. The pitch looks good, don’t know what will happen, but we are confident of batting first. Hopefully, we will be able to get a bit of spin in the second innings.”
Indian captain Shubhman Gill said, “We were looking to bowl first. Well, I think most of the boys have been playing T20, and the rest of the boys got a little rest; I did a little training. Came here a few days ago, so we were practicing. So the atmosphere, the vibe has been very good.” On the return of senior players, he said, “Yes, definitely most of the seniors are back. We have Virat bhai, Rohit bhai, KL and Boom (Bumrah) back in the squad. So the experience is going to be huge for us.”
