Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions for quick and transparent disposal of revenue cases. While discussing the status of pending cases in the review meeting, he asked to fix accountability of officers and run a special campaign for old cases.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to include prompt, transparent and quality disposal of revenue cases among the top priorities of the government. He said that disputes related to land and revenue are directly related to the common people, farmers and social system, hence any kind of unnecessary delay will not be accepted in such matters. The Chief Minister clearly said that in the cases which are pending even after the stipulated time limit, necessary action should be taken by fixing the accountability of the concerned officers and employees.

Instructions to make the functioning of revenue courts technology based

During the review meeting of pending cases in revenue courts on Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the efficiency of revenue courts should be strengthened through technology-based system, accountability and time-bound work system. He said that providing speedy justice to the common citizens is the priority of the government and the working style of the revenue courts should not be limited to mere statistics but should provide real relief to the people. The Chief Minister directed that a special campaign should be run to resolve the cases pending beyond the stipulated time and regular reviews should be conducted at the tehsil and district level.

Big reduction in pending cases under Section 80

It was informed in the meeting that a significant reduction has been registered in the number of pending cases in Section 80 cases through the RCCMS portal. As on January 1, 2026, a total of 85,158 Section 80 cases were pending, out of which 77,578 cases were disposed of. Whereas by May 22, 2026, the number of pending cases came down to 38,166, while 29,543 cases were disposed of. During the review, the performance of Basti, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Baghpat and Kannauj districts was found to be better, while Meerut, Varanasi, Amethi, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur could not make the expected progress.

Speedy disposal of Section 34 cases also

A significant reduction was also recorded in the pending cases under Section 34. It was told in the meeting that a total of 22,44,466 cases were pending on January 1, 2026, which reduced to 10,59,139 by May 22, 2026. A total of 5,40,945 cases were disposed of during this period. The review found the performance of Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Aligarh and Badaun better, while Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Pratapgarh, Ballia and Deoria could not make the expected progress. The Chief Minister directed to quickly dispose of the pending cases by running a special campaign in these districts.

Emphasis on timely disposal of inheritance and section 24 cases

During the review of undisputed inheritance cases under Section 33, it was told that a total of 16,89,732 applications were received in the year 2025, out of which 16,43,104 cases were disposed of. Whereas till May 22, 2026, out of 7,15,872 applications received, 6,52,512 cases have been disposed of. The Chief Minister directed that citizens should not have to make unnecessary rounds in heritage matters and time bound resolution of all matters should be ensured.

In the review of Section-24 cases, it was told that 1,82,710 cases were pending on January 1, 2026, which reduced to 92,915 by May 22, 2026. Varanasi, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Balrampur and Hamirpur performed better, while Gautam Buddha Nagar, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Amethi and Muzaffarnagar did not make the expected progress.

Special strategy will be made for old pending cases

In the review of pending cases under Section 116, it was told that 1,69,693 cases were pending in January 2026, which reduced to 1,14,479 by May 22, 2026. In this category, the performance of Varanasi, Etah, Azamgarh, Lakhimpur Kheri and Maharajganj was found to be better, while the performance of Pratapgarh, Muzaffarnagar, Kanpur Nagar, Gonda and Ballia was weak. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that a separate list of old cases pending for years should be prepared and a special strategy should be made for their disposal.

Strict instructions given to Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates

The Chief Minister directed all the Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates who participated in the meeting through video conferencing to ensure disposal of the pending revenue cases in their respective areas within the stipulated time limit. The Chief Minister said that the working style of revenue administration should be such that public confidence is strengthened and people do not have to wait for long for justice.
