New Delhi: A heated exchange unfolded at a district grievance committee meeting in Kaithal after Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij questioned the police over a land fraud case allegedly involving one of their own.
The matter surfaced while police complaints were being reviewed. Vij sought details about the progress of the investigation and expressed dissatisfaction with the action taken so far. The case reportedly involves a police employee accused of being linked to a land fraud.
As the discussion continued, the conversation between Vij and Kaithal Superintendent of Police Upasana turned tense.
Why heated exchange?
The officials present at the meeting said the minister pressed for clarity and accountability. The state Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister reportedly questioned why stronger steps had not already been taken in the case especially given that a government employee was named in the allegations.
The exchange grew sharp as both sides stood their ground. Soon after, Vij directed that the accused police employee be suspended and instructed that the Director General of Police be informed about the development.
A video of the confrontation has since circulated widely on social media, drawing attention to the incident.
