The Indian team continues its success in the T20 World Cup 2026. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Team India won two consecutive matches. After starting the tournament with a win against America, India also defeated Namibia in the second match. In this match, the Indian team dominated almost the entire time. However, during this time some such scenes were also seen which surprised. One of these incidents happened in Jasprit Bumrah’s over, when he blew away the stumps but on this Namibia got one run, even though it was not a no-ball.
What happened in Bumrah’s over?
In the match played on Thursday 12 February at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. namibia Was chasing the target. The 7th over of his innings was going on and Jasprit Bumrah was bowling. Opener Lauren Steenkamp was on strike on the third ball of his over. Bumrah bowled a precise yorker and Steenkamp’s off stump flew away. There was excitement among the fans in the stadium but then both the Namibian batsmen completed one run.

Now the question is why did this happen? Let us tell you that it was not even a no-ball so that the batsmen could get runs. So what happened next? All this happened because it was a free-hit and the batsman cannot be out on it. In fact, just before this, a ball of Bumrah was declared a no-ball, due to which Namibia got a free-hit. Now Steenkamp could not hit a big shot on this but Namibia still got one run.
Remembered India-Pakistan match
This small incident reminded of T20 World Cup 2022, when this happened in the match of Indian team itself. In the India-Pakistan match in Melbourne, spinner Mohammad Nawaz bowled a no-ball in the last over, on which Virat Kohli hit a six. Then Kohli failed on the free-hit and was bowled. Now he could not have been out on the free-hit but he and Dinesh Karthik showed wisdom and collected 3 runs bye on it. Then the Pakistani team was surprised by this but they forgot that all this was within the rules.
Namibia did not benefit
India had benefited from this bye against Pakistan but Namibia did not get any help in this match. Batting first, Team India scored a big score of 209 runs. For that, Ishan Kishan scored 61 runs and Hardik Pandya scored 52 runs. In response, the entire Namibian team collapsed for just 116 runs and the Indian team won by a huge margin of 93 runs. For Team India, Varun Chakraborty took 3 wickets, while Hardik and Akshar Patel took 2-2 wickets.
