The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav had borrowed ₹5 crore to make his film ‘Ata Pata Laapata’. The film flopped and could not be paid. It is said that in this case 7 of his checks bounced. Due to this, a check bounce case was registered against him. In 2018, the Magistrate Court imposed a sentence of 6 months, which was upheld by the Sessions Court in 2019.
