Delhi High Court, while hearing the petition of Celina Jaitley, advised to resolve the differences between sister and sister-in-law regarding the release of her brother Vikrant Jaitley, who has been in custody in UAE for 18 months. The court asked both of them to make legal efforts together.

Delhi High Court hears Celina Jaitly plea: Delhi High Court heard the petition of actress Celina Jaitley, this case is related to her brother Major (retd) Vikrant Jaitley, who has been in custody in United Arab Emirates for 18 months. In this petition, Celina has made Charul Jaitley, who is her brother’s wife and sister-in-law of the actress, a party. Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav, after hearing the arguments of both, suggested forgetting their differences and working together for the release of Vikrant. During this, Celina’s lawyers told the court that Charul had ignored them, while her sister-in-law said that her life has been made a media circus without consent.

Foreign Ministry embroiled in family dispute

CGSC Nidhi Raman, appearing for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), told Bar & Bench in the court, “Vikrant is talking regularly; the next meeting is on February 13. He is refusing to talk to the wife. He talks to the wife, but she is refusing to sign the power of attorney. The ministry is caught in the middle of this fight. We will suggest four names to him, including the law firm suggested by the wife, and will contact them.” Will ask you to choose one.”

Charul made serious allegations against Celina on video call.

Celina Jaitley says that despite the breakdown of her own marriage, she approached the court to get justice for her brother. Vikrant’s wife’s lawyer told the court that he had earlier spoken to Celina, he was also asked why the actress had approached the court instead of seeking help from the embassy.

Celina, who was present in the court, said, “I have done everything for this case, my marriage is broken. I came before the court in 2025 because Charul had stopped listening to me. I just want help for Vikrant.” The judge asked Charul, who appeared via video call, whether she wanted Vikrant released from jail, to which she replied, “Why wouldn’t a wife want that?”

Court refuses to ban media

The court said it was not a ‘family dispute’ and asked Charul to seek the help of the Ministry of External Affairs. Charul told that despite the ‘strained relationship’ between her and her brother, she was in contact with Celina since 2024. The court appealed to Celina and Charul to ‘re-establish relations’ to work together to get Vikrant released. The court also said that there is no evidence to prove that Charul is not working with Vikrant and any further legal action depends on Vikrant.

When Charul’s lawyer sought a ban on reporting the case, the court refused to ban the media.
