IMD has warned of double weather in the country for the next week. There is an alert of heavy rain in East and Northeast India, while the South-East coast will face muggy heat and heatwave. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rain in Meghalaya and Bengal.

New Delhi [भारत]July 14 (ANI): The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted completely opposite weather patterns for a week in the Indian subcontinent. The country’s weather is clearly divided into two parts, creating a double threat situation: on one hand, the east and north-east are experiencing continuous torrential rains, while on the other hand, the south-east coast is in the grip of scorching and humid heat.

Speaking to ANI, IMD scientist Akhil said that the center of main weather activity has changed dramatically. A large rain system has settled over the eastern and northeastern states, prompting a high-alert for the next seven days. The situation is becoming increasingly serious, with IMD scientists warning of immediate “extreme heavy rainfall” for parts of Meghalaya and Bengal.

Warning of heavy rain in these states

Akhil said, “We estimate that the main center of rain and storm activity this week will be East and Northeast India, where heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for several days. Heavy rain warning has been issued over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh for the next 7 days; ‘Extremely heavy rain’ warning has been issued over parts of Meghalaya and Bengal for today. “

Additionally, several states in eastern India, including Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Gangetic Bengal region, are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period.

Regarding western and Himalayan regions, the weather office has issued a warning of heavy rain for Uttarakhand from July 15. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh by the end of the week.

Heat and humidity in South India

In contrast, parts of south and coastal India are expected to face ‘hot and muggy’ weather conditions. The scientist further said, “As far as South India and coastal areas of East India, such as Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and parts of Odisha are concerned, hot and humid weather conditions are expected in the next 3 to 4 days. Meanwhile, heat wave conditions are likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next three days.”

The IMD forecast suggests a large regional difference in weather patterns, with the northern and eastern belts bracing for heavy monsoon rains, while the south-eastern coast is battling heat and humidity. (ANI)
