Earlier this limit was 25 years, which has been demanded by employees for a long time to reduce it. Now the government has given a good gift to government employees before Diwali.
These facilities will be available
Apart from this, employees choosing UPS will also get many facilities besides pension. For example, if an employee becomes disabled during service or he dies due to some reason. So in the event of disability, the employee and after death, his family will have the right to choose the option under CCS Pension Rules or UPS rules. With this, the family will get the benefit of safe pension.
UPS Scheme
The central government implemented this scheme on 1 April 2025 as an alternative to the National Pension Scheme. Both the employee and the government contribute to this scheme. In case of delay in credit for registration or contribution, the government will also give compensation to the employees. Also, recently, the Finance Ministry had issued a statement saying that under UPS, eligible employees can switch to NPS under One Way One Time at a time. Employees can choose this scheme one year before their retirement or three months before taking VRS.
However, at the same time it has been mentioned that the employees who have been removed from their posts due to disciplinary action or any such investigation is going on. In such a situation, those employees cannot switch UPS to NPS. For this, a date for 30 September 2025 has been set.
