Forest and environment sector has been given priority in UP Budget 2026-27. Special budget provisions have been made for Rs 35 crore plantation target, Rs 800 crore for social forestry, Kukrail Night Safari, e-waste management and clean air management project.

Lucknow. Yogi government’s Finance Minister Suresh Khanna has given priority to forest and environment sector in the budget for the financial year 2026-27. He said that since 2017 till now, more than 242.13 crore saplings have been planted in the state. A target of planting 35 crore trees has been set in the coming rainy season 2026.

He said that due to continuous plantation campaigns, Uttar Pradesh has reached second position in the country in terms of increase in forest cover and plantation. This achievement reflects the commitment of the state government towards environmental protection.

Big budget for social forestry scheme and nursery management

The Finance Minister said that a provision of Rs 800 crore is proposed for the Social Forestry Scheme. This scheme will help in increasing green cover in rural and urban areas. Apart from this, a budget of Rs 220 crore has been proposed for the nursery management scheme and Rs 189 crore for the state compensatory forest plantation scheme. The objective of these schemes is to improve the quality of plants and to compensate for the cut forests.

Kukrail Night Safari Park and Ranipur Dam Foundation

A budget of about Rs 207 crore is proposed for the establishment of Night Safari Park in Kukrail Forest area of ​​Lucknow. The project will promote both tourism and wildlife conservation. A corpus fund of Rs 50 crore has also been proposed for the Chitrakoot-based Ranipur Dam Foundation. This will give impetus to regional environmental protection and development work.

Waste Management and E-Waste Recycling Initiatives

The process of establishing hazardous waste disposal facility, mass bio-medical waste disposal center and e-waste recycling and treatment facility is going on in the state. The objective of these projects is to reduce environmental pollution and ensure safe disposal systems.

UP Clean Air Management Project 2025-2031

Uttar Pradesh Clean Air Management Project will be implemented from the year 2025-26 to 2030-31. It is a multi-sector scheme assisted by the World Bank. For this, a provision of Rs 194 crore has been made in the budget. This scheme will play an important role in controlling air pollution and ensuring clean environment. This budget of Yogi government reflects the holistic vision of forest conservation, clean air, waste management and green development.
