Crude oil
The European union also put sensations on India to buy Russian oil from India in the midst of Russia and Ukraine War. After that, now again from January 2026, EU is preparing to ban Indian refinance, which has resulted in India rapidly increased oil exports. Europe is rapidly trying to fill its stock. Meanwhile, India exported record diesel Europe in the month of August. According to the year, this month, exports have increased by 137 percent. India has exported 2 lakh 42 thousand barrels of diesel to Europe.
According to the global real-time data and analytics provider Kepler, diesel exports to Europe in August increased by 73% month-to-month and 124% higher at an average of the last 12 months. Another energy cargo tracker, Vortexa, estimated that India’s diesel exports to Europe in August remained 228,316 barrels per day, 166% higher than last year and 36% more than July. Export estimates between shipping data trackers are often different.
Why rapid export
According to the ET report, the expert has blamed several factors for this growth. In which the first is a sudden decision taken by a major refinery to complete the maintenance prematurely, the required demand in winter and the Ban on the coming time from the European Union that can prevent Indian supply. They estimate that the European demand for Indian diesel will remain strong for the rest of 2025.
Sumit Ritolia, the leading research analyst of refining and modeling at Capler, said that in late August, especially in Rotterdam, the decrease due to unexpected refinery maintenance is being compensated. He said that the export has increased rapidly by extending its planned turnaround from 2026 by Shell’s Parnis (Netherlands) Refinery.
America criticized India
Meanwhile, senior American officials of India have strongly criticized their refiners of earning profits by purchasing Russian crude oil at exemption and selling it in West countries after refining. India has rejected the allegation and argued that if the West objects, it can stop buying Indian fuel.
Indian exporters are expected to see a strong demand from Europe this year. Ritola said that European buyers may accelerate oil lift from India due to the rapid maintenance of Middle Eastern refineries in October-November, reminiscent of storage made before the European Union ban on Russian products in February 2023.
