Kanpur: Days after a caste related comments by Astha Singh, an HDFC bank employee in Kanpur snowballed into a major controversy in social media, the person with whom she was arguing has denied any wrongdoing.
Recently, a video of Astha Singh had gone viral in which she can be heard saying, “Thakur hoon main.” However, Ritu Tripathi, with whom she argued, claimed that neither she now her husband said anything related to the caste during the argument.
‘Tensions started after Tripathi resigned’
Sharing her side of the incident, Singh claimed that the tension started after Tripathi resigned and wanted her relieving letter immediately. She also alleged that Tripathi’s husband misbehaved with her. “He asked me directly. What caste are you? Why are you so arrogant? He came to my desk and said, ‘I will teach you a lesson,’” Singh claimed.
Speaking to the media, Ritu Tripathi said she had gone to the bank to formally resign and collect her relieving letter. “My sister-in-law had accompanied me. She went to the washroom, and Aastha was already inside but hadn’t locked the door. After that, she got upset. There was no caste issue from our side,” Tripathi said.
Sharing details on the reason behind her resignation, “I have an eight-month-old son. Though I used to report on time in the morning, I often got free at 8 or 9 pm. I informed the bank about this. The manager would say they would drop me home. But I was constantly taunted about timing. I resigned out of frustration.”
Husband did not abuse anyone: Ritu Tripathi
Accusing Astha Singh of using abusive language, she added further, as per news agency ANI, “She threatened us by saying ‘thok dungi’ to my husband, who is also a bank customer. My husband did not abuse anyone at the bank or outside it. She claimed that my family was involved in circulating the video, which is absolutely wrong. I am not working with the bank anymore. I want support from everyone, not just Brahmins.
