Valentine Day 2026 Fraud: Valentine week is going on. Gifts, flowers, dates, online chat…talks of love are happening everywhere, but meanwhile, thugs are also active. Most online frauds and fake offers appear on Valentine’s Day. If you are also ordering a gift, planning a date or talking to a new friend online, then it is important to be a little alert, because in the name of love your pockets can be empty. Let us know what Valentine scams are and how to avoid them…
Trap of fake gift website and huge discounts
Before Valentine’s Day, advertisements of many types of offers like ‘70% OFF’, ‘Limited Offer’ are seen on social media. Many times these websites are not genuine. You make the payment, but the gift never arrives. In such a situation, always buy from a well-known website only. Check the website name, reviews and URL carefully. Do not pay immediately after seeing very cheap offers.
Fake Profile on Online Dating App
Many fraudsters make friends by creating fake profiles. After chatting for a few days suddenly demand for money starts, like emergency, gift, or meeting expenses. In such a situation, do not transfer money to someone you do not know in real life. Talk on video call and if in doubt, block immediately.
OTP fraud in the name of gift delivery
Some people call and say that a gift has come in your name, give OTP for delivery. As soon as you tell the OTP, money can be withdrawn from your bank account or card. Remember, never share OTP, CVV, or bank details with anyone. Bank or delivery agency does not ask for OTP.
QR code scam
Many fraudsters send QR code on the pretext of sending money and ask to scan it. But on scanning the QR the money is withdrawn from your account. Remember that scanning a QR code is a way to get money, not money.
Fake Lucky Door and Gift Hamper
You may receive the message ‘Valentine Special Lucky Winner’ on phone or email. It says that you have won the gift, just pay the processing fee first. This is a complete trap. No company asks for any fee before giving a gift. Be alert about this.
