Insomniac? Wellness expert say reflexology can support better sleep, relaxation

New Delhi: Reflexology is a kind of massage. It involves using your thumbs or fingers on areas of the feet and hands. Now, let us talk about the history of reflexology. We can see pictures of it in Egyptian tomb drawings from 2330 BC. We also know that people in China were using it 5000 years ago. In Japan, there are symbols of the footprints of a Buddha. It was not until the 20th century that reflexology became popular in Western countries.

Dr Narendra K. Shetty, Chief Wellness Officer, Kshemavana Naturopathy and Yoga Center, spoke about reflexology. The American physician Dr. William Fitzgeralad came up with the name for this thing. He called it ZONE THERAPY.
How does reflexology work?

It is based on a system of energy zones. The idea of reflexology is to get rid of energy blocks and break down crystals that are built up. Reflexology works on the pathway that pain travels. It helps to release endorphins, which make the body feel relaxed. When this happens, the body goes into a state of relaxation, and the parasympathetic system takes over. This helps to keep the body feeling calm and at ease. This is how reflexology works to help the body feel better. The energy zones in reflexology are very important to the process. Reflexology is about using these energy zones to help the body heal.

When we do reflexology, our breathing becomes slower. Our muscles become softer. We do not have racing thoughts. This makes it easier to unwind.

Sleep quality is a lot more important for our body to recover than the quantity of sleep. Just because we sleep for a long time does not mean our bodies will recover properly unless the way we sleep is normal. Sleep quality and sleep architecture are the things that really matter for our body to feel rested.

Regular sessions can really help our bodies make serotonin into melatonin. This helps our sleep-wake cycles so we can get sleep and not wake up as much at night. It is an idea to focus on certain points, like the solar plexus to help with stress or the pituitary gland to help with hormones. People who do this often say they sleep faster and feel better in the morning when they do it every day
