A state level mass marriage program took place in Raipur under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana. 6,412 couples got married in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. Each couple was given assistance of Rs 35,000.
Raipur. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana is a historic initiative realizing the spirit of social harmony, Antyodaya and sensitive governance in Chhattisgarh. He said that once upon a time, daughter’s marriage was a matter of great concern for poor families, but this scheme has transformed that worry into respect and trust. The Chief Minister was addressing the state level mass marriage program organized at the Science College grounds in the capital Raipur.
6,412 couples tied the knot in one day
In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, a total of 6,412 couples got married according to various religious traditions and customs in the entire state including Raipur. The Chief Minister personally blessed 1,316 newly married couples at the Science College grounds in Raipur, while couples from other districts joined the program through virtual medium.
Financial assistance to newly married couples
Under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana, an assistance amount of Rs 35,000 was provided to each newly married couple. This historic event has been recorded in the Golden Book of World Records due to its massiveness and social impact.
Celebration of equality of all religions and social unity
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this event is not just a marriage ceremony, but a symbol of all-religion equality and social unity. In this program, couples from Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist and special backward tribe Baiga community tied the knot as per their respective religious customs, which reflects the cultural diversity and social harmony of Chhattisgarh.
Malnutrition free Chhattisgarh campaign launched
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also formally launched the malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh campaign. He informed that this campaign has been started as a pilot project in eight districts of Surguja and Bastar divisions. He said that to build a healthy and well-nourished Chhattisgarh, participation of the society along with the government is necessary and after success, it will be implemented in the entire state.
Rapid implementation of Modi’s guarantee promises
The Chief Minister said that with the blessings of the people of the state, Chhattisgarh is moving rapidly in the direction of development. He said that the government has fulfilled most of the promises guaranteed by Modi in just two years. Under Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 70 lakh women are being given assistance of Rs 1,000 every month.
Mention of public welfare schemes
Chief Minister Shri Sai also mentioned schemes like increase in standard bag price for tendu leaf collectors, re-launch of Charan Paduka Yojana, Shri Ram Lalla Darshan Yojana and financial assistance to landless labourers.
Ministers said it was a historic and inspirational event
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana was started under the leadership of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, which is being taken forward by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. He said that public participation is very important in the goal of malnutrition free Chhattisgarh. Describing it as a historic day, Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb said that the marriage of thousands of couples in a single day shows the sensitivity and all-inclusive approach of the Chief Minister.

Many public representatives and officials including MLA Mr. Sunil Soni, Mr. Purandar Mishra, Mr. Anuj Sharma, Mr. Motilal Sahu, Mr. Sampat Aggarwal, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Seed Corporation Mr. Chandrahas Chandrakar, Chairperson of Child Protection Commission Dr. Varnika Sharma, Secretary of Women and Child Development Department Mrs. Shammi Abidi, Director Dr. Renuka Srivastava were present in the program.
