USA all-rounder Mohammad Mohsin believes Pakistan will face significant pressure when the two teams meet in their upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 clash in Colombo.
Riding high on confidence after pushing India hard in their previous outing, the USA side is optimistic about delivering another strong performance.
The American team impressed in their last match against defending champions India, where their bowlers triggered a top-order collapse using the new ball. Although they eventually fell short, the performance boosted the team’s morale as they now prepare for a crucial contest against Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
Speaking ahead of the match, Mohsin highlighted the psychological advantage USA might hold, especially considering their famous win over Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“Against Pakistan, because we have beaten them once, I think the pressure is all on them. Anyway, we don’t have anything to lose in this World Cup. We are just enjoying our journey. And I think the way it started, it seems to be an exciting one. And hopefully, tomorrow’s game is going to be even better,” Mohsin said in the pre-game press conference.
Mohsin, who was born in Peshawar, has substantial experience playing domestic and age-group cricket in Pakistan. His familiarity with several players in the current Pakistan squad could prove valuable for the USA team. He explained how he shares his insights during team preparations while also praising the support staff.
“I have played against almost all of the squads that Pakistan has right now. And whatever inputs I know, like the guys I have played with, or I know about, I do put in the team meetings. But I think our team analysts and the coaches have done a lot of great work. They have shown us a lot of analytics about the players. And wherever I can chip in, I do chip in,” he said.
While the USA head into the fixture with confidence, Pakistan themselves narrowly avoided an upset in their previous match against the Netherlands. Chasing a modest 148, Pakistan struggled during the latter stages before Faheem Ashraf’s late cameo helped them secure victory.
With both teams showing signs of vulnerability and potential, the upcoming encounter promises to be a high-stakes and closely fought contest.
