Where is Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple?
There is an ancient Shiva temple in Bahjoi village of Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, which is known as Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple. The tradition of this temple is quite special because here the devotees mainly offer broom to Mahadev. This may sound a bit strange but it is true. On the occasion of Sawan and Mahashivratri, crowds of devotees gather here.

A special belief related to Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple is that skin diseases are cured by offering broom and worshiping here. Many devotees come here with the hope that their skin diseases can be cured and they too can live like normal people. This temple is said to be about 200 years old. The special thing is that apart from Shivalinga, there is no idol of any other deity in this temple.
What is the interesting story related to Pataleshwar Temple?
There is also an interesting story related to this temple, according to which, about 200 years ago, a rich businessman lived in a nearby village. He had a terrible skin disease. Once when he was going to the doctor for his treatment, he felt thirsty on the way. He saw an ashram nearby. As soon as the businessman started going to the ashram, his foot collided with a broom. The merchant’s disease was cured by the mere touch of that broom. The businessman considered it a miracle of God and got a grand Shiva temple built there. Later this temple came to be known as Pataleshwar Mahadev.
