Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to the deceased MLAs in the House on Tuesday, the second day of the budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. Expressing condolences, the Chief Minister remembered the contribution of both the leaders and expressed condolences to their families.
Pro. Chief Minister’s condolence message on the demise of Shyam Bihari Lal
The Chief Minister told the House that Professor Shyam Bihari Lal, member of the present Assembly, died on January 2, 2026 at the age of 60. He was elected to the Assembly for the second time and was a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Faridpur (Bareilly). The Chief Minister said that Prof. Shyam Bihari Lal was a friendly, simple and down to earth public representative. He had a deep connection with the education world. He was the Chairman of the History Compilation Committee, Bareilly and was also a member of the Working Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Prof. Shyam Bihari Lal gave impetus to the basic development works in his constituency and worked continuously for the welfare of the backward, deprived and poor classes. He said that when scholars associated with the education world become public representatives, they strengthen democratic traditions. His demise has caused irreparable loss to the state and BJP.
Condolence in the House on the demise of senior MLA Vijay Singh Gaur
The Chief Minister also expressed deep condolences on the demise of senior member of the present Assembly, Vijay Singh Gaur. He told that Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Singh Gaur died on January 8, 2026 at the age of 71. Vijay Singh Gaur was elected assembly member for the eighth time. His political journey started in 1980. He won the assembly elections in 1980, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1996, 2002. He was elected from Duddhi assembly constituency in the 2024 by-election. He was recognized as a strong voice of the tribal society.
Vijay Singh Gaur’s role on water-forest-land and public interest issues
The Chief Minister said that Vijay Singh Gaur always gave priority to basic issues like education, health, roads and employment along with rights to water, forest and land. With his demise, not only the tribal society but the entire state has lost a struggling social worker and experienced politician.
