According to the Panchang, on February 13, 2026, Sun God will move out of Capricorn and enter Aquarius, which is known as Kumbh Sankranti. What not to do on Kumbh Sankranti?

It is believed that at the time of Sankranti there is a huge change in solar energy, hence some works are considered prohibited.

Consuming Tamasic Food: On this day one should stay away from Tamasic food like meat, alcohol, onion and garlic. By doing this the virtuous fruits are destroyed.

Starting a new task: Any big investment or starting of a new business should be avoided during the transition period of Sankranti i.e. the time of change.

Abuse and anger: Do not insult anyone on this day nor create discord at home. It is very important to control speech, otherwise negativity increases.

sleeping late: Sleeping till late after sunrise on the day of Sankranti is considered inauspicious. Due to this the Sun becomes weak in the horoscope of the person.

Do not ignore these rules even by mistake

Eating food without taking bath on the day of Sankranti is also considered inauspicious. If possible, wake up early in the morning and take bath by pouring Ganga water in some holy river or at home. Apart from this, do not return empty handed to any beggar or needy who comes to the door on this day, because doing so can cause Pitra Dosh.

What is auspicious to do?

Importance of donation: Donating sesame seeds, jaggery, clothes and grains on Kumbh Sankranti is very fruitful.

Worship of Sun God: Fill water in a copper pot and offer Arghya while chanting the mantra Om Suryay Namah.

Cow Service: It is considered very auspicious to feed green fodder or jaggery to mother cow on this day.
