The Bangladesh Cricket Board had decided not to play its T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India due to security concerns, after which the ICC dropped them from the tournament and included Scotland in their place. ICC did not give any punishment to Bangladesh
The International Cricket Council has announced that it will not take any action on Bangladesh’s absence from the 2026 T20 World Cup. Along with this, BCB has also received a big gift. Actually, one ICC event will be organized in Bangladesh between 2028 and 2031. ICC has made it clear that Bangladesh will not have to face any financial, sporting and administrative penalty. Apart from this, BCB’s right to go to the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) will also remain intact.
ICC issued an official media release saying that the talks held in Lahore between ICC, Pakistan Cricket Board and BCB have been completed. In this discussion, apart from the 2026 T20 World Cup, the future of cricket in South Asia was also discussed. According to the media release, Bangladesh will get a chance to host an ICC event between 2028-2031. Let us tell you, Bangladesh also has to host the ODI World Cup with India in 2031. In such a situation, he will be given another event before this.

ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta said, ‘Bangladesh’s absence from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is regrettable, but it will not change the ICC’s enduring commitment to Bangladesh. Our focus is on working closely with key stakeholders, including the BCB, to ensure that the game continues to grow in the country and strengthen future opportunities for its players and fans.
