Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the tribal exhibition at the conclusion of Bastar Pandum 2026. He appreciated the crafts, arts, costumes and local cuisine and met the competition winners and congratulated them.
On the concluding occasion of division level Bastar Pandum 2026, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah visited the exhibition based on tribal traditions and culture organized at Lalbagh Maidan. He visited various stalls and got information about the products, handicrafts and traditional arts related to the life of the tribal society.
Appreciation of diversity of tribal crafts, arts and culture
The Union Home Minister appreciated the exhibition based on Dhokra craft, terracotta, wood carving, sisal art, bamboo and iron craft, tribal costumes and jewellery, Tumba art, tribal painting, forest medicine, local cuisine and folk paintings. He said that the culture of Bastar is the living form of the soul of India, which empowers the cultural diversity of the country.
Identity of Bastar seen in tribal costumes and painting
The traditional costumes and jewelery of Dandami Madiya, Abujhmadia, Muria, Bhatra and Halba tribes were displayed in the exhibition. A vivid glimpse of tribal life, nature and traditions was presented through tribal painting. Along with this, live demonstration of forest medicines by Vaidyaraj was also the center of attraction.
Local cuisine and traditional drinks added attraction
The local cuisine stall displayed traditional dishes like Jondhari Lai Laddu, Mandiya Page, Aamt, Chapra Chutney, Kulthi Dal, Paan Bobo, Tikhur. Apart from this, traditional beverages like Landa and Sulfi also attracted the attention of the visitors.
