In the UP Economic Survey 2025-26, the Yogi government has proposed Rs 34,504 crore for social security and welfare schemes. Lakhs of people have benefited from pension, scholarship, Kanya Sumangala, Abhyudaya Yojana and family benefits.
Lucknow. According to the Uttar Pradesh Economic Survey 2025-26, the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proposed to spend Rs 34,504 crore in the financial year 2025-26 for social security and welfare schemes in the state.
In the financial year 2024-25, Rs 30,530 crore was spent on this item, whereas in the year 2017-18 only Rs 18,674 crore was spent on social security and welfare. This remarkable increase in the last 9 years clearly shows that the government is implementing the resolve of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”.
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna gave this information while presenting the Economic Survey for the year 2025-26 in the House on Monday in the budget session of the Legislature.
Old people and disabled people get financial support from pension
The state government has paid special attention to the social and economic empowerment of elderly and disabled people. According to the Economic Survey, in the year 2025-26, the benefit of pension scheme was given to 67.50 lakh elderly people by December 2025 and 22.89 lakh disabled people by January 2026.
In the financial year 2024-25, 60.99 lakh elderly people were benefited with an amount of Rs 7,363.55 crore, which shows an increase of 62.79 percent as compared to the year 2017-18.
Education support to 17.48 lakh poor students through scholarship scheme
Scholarship schemes have been a major priority of the government to ensure the education of poor and backward class students. In the year 2025-26, till December 2025, 3.42 lakh students of Scheduled Caste category, 12.76 lakh students of Backward Class and 1.30 lakh students of General category were benefited under the Pre-10th and Post-10th Scholarship.
In the year 2024-25, scholarship worth Rs 636.34 crore was given to 14.98 lakh students of Scheduled Caste category, Rs 2,454.32 crore to 29.94 lakh students of Backward Class and Rs 909.99 crore to 8.78 lakh students of General Category.
Thousands of youth preparing for competitive exams through Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana
According to the Economic Survey, under the Chief Minister Abhyudaya Yojana started from the year 2021-22, free training was provided to 23,017 candidates by spending Rs 34.92 crore in the year 2024-25. Whereas in the year 2025-26 till December 2025, 23,801 candidates are preparing for various competitive examinations by spending Rs 10.57 crore.
Strong support to daughters through Kanya Sumangala and mass marriage scheme
It was told in the Economic Survey that in the year 2024-25, marriages of 95,466 girls were solemnized under the mass marriage scheme. Compared to the year 2017-18, the number of marriages has increased almost five times and the expenditure on it has increased seven times. Till January 2026, 26.81 lakh girls have been benefited under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana.
Assistance to 53,607 dependents from National Family Benefit Scheme
The government is providing financial assistance under the National Family Benefit Scheme in case of death of the earning head of BPL families. In the year 2017-18, assistance was given to 86.26 thousand dependents. The number of beneficiaries increased by 31.35 percent in the year 2024-25. The amount distributed increased from Rs 258.77 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 296.36 crore in 2024-25. In the year 2025-26, an assistance amount of Rs 162.50 crore was provided to 53,607 dependents till December 2025.
