CPI(M) MP John Brittas has attacked RSS over alleged misappropriation of donations for Ayodhya Ram temple. Alleging that crores of Ram devotees were cheated, he has demanded an investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
New Delhi [भारत]July 13 (ANI): CPI(M) MP John Brittas on Monday hit out at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Responding to RSS publicity chief Sunil Ambekar’s statement on the issue, Brittas said there was a need for an independent investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. “What is the point of expressing concern? This government is controlled by the RSS, and no one knows who is controlling this trust… If the RSS is honest, they should ask the Government of India to order a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry because crores of Ram devotees have been cheated,” the CPI(M) MP said.
Hearing will be held in the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear petitions seeking a CBI probe into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
Speaking on the matter, Brittas alleged serious irregularities in the donation and construction process and demanded a comprehensive investigation. He said, “There has been looting at many levels in this case. I was shocked when a person who looked after the charity work was praised and applauded while relieving him of the post… Even the engineers involved in the construction of the Ram temple said that there was a commission of 40%. This means that the actual cost of the building is not what Nripendra Mishra is telling… Instead of doing a piecemeal job to hide and cover up everything, there should be an in-depth, comprehensive investigation into all aspects of the looting.” Lord Ram has been robbed.”
RSS expressed grief over the incident
The comments came after Ambekar said the RSS was hopeful that the ongoing police and Special Investigation Team (SIT) proceedings into alleged irregularities in donations would reach a “decisive turn”.
Speaking at the conclusion of the RSS’s annual Akhil Bharatiya Pravan Pracharak meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka, he stressed the importance of preventing any such incidents in the future that could hurt the “devotees and deep faith” of devotees. He said, “The annual All India Province Pracharak meeting of the RSS was concluded today in Belagavi, Karnataka. In the meeting, everyone expressed grief over the incident of irregularities in the counting of donation boxes at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and expressed confidence that the SIT and police action initiated at the request of the Teerth Kshetra Trust will reach a turning point. It was expected from the Teerth Kshetra Trust that no such incident should happen in the future which would hurt the reverence and deep faith of all Ram devotees towards the Ram Temple. Arrived.”
Facts revealed in SIT investigation
Meanwhile, according to preliminary findings of a special investigation team (SIT), CCTV footage examined between April 27 and June 5 revealed around 70 suspicious incidents in which counting staff allegedly hid bundles of cash in their clothes, pockets, shoes and other personal belongings. (ANI)
