Film Rejected By Sunny Deol: Sunny Deol, who was making headlines because of ‘Border 2’, rejected a film which went to Govinda and was a superhit. The special thing is that this film was initially going to be an action thriller, but as soon as Sunny Deol was out, it became a comedy. Director David Dhawan, famous for making comedy films, was making an action thriller in 1997, the tentative title of which he had kept ‘Bodyguard’. He had offered this film to Sunny Deol. But he refused to do it.
Apart from Sunny Deol, David Dhawan had also offered this film to Anil Kapoor and Zeba Bakhtiar. Sunny Deol rejected the offer and then some circumstances arose such that even Zeba Bakhtiyar could not be a part of the film.
After Sunny Deol’s refusal, David Dhawan approached Govinda for the film and he agreed. But with his entry the entire tone of the film changed. The script of the film was changed and it was transformed from an action thriller to a comedy.
Juhi Chawla replaced Zeba Bakhtiar in the film. In this way, ‘Deewana Mastana’ was ready with Govinda, Juhi Chawla and Anil Kapoor. Salman Khan also did a cameo in the film. This is the only film in which Salman Khan and Juhi Chawla shared the screen.
‘Deewana Mastana’ was a superhit at the box office. If reports are to be believed, the film had made a gross collection of around Rs 24 crore worldwide. It was included in the top 10 most profitable films of that year.
