Chennai Singams Secure First ISPL Title with Victory Over Tiigers of Kolkata

Chennai Singams achieved a historic victory by defeating Tiigers of Kolkata by 29 runs in the final of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 3, held in Surat on Friday.

The match featured a strong performance from the Singams, who maintained control throughout the game in front of an enthusiastic crowd, including notable ISPL Core Committee members such as Sachin Tendulkar and Dipak Chauhan.

Match Overview

Chennai won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Ketan Mhatre and Jagannath Sarkar quickly established a strong foundation for the team.

Despite a dropped catch in the opening over, Ketan launched an aggressive attack, scoring 28 runs in the second over. Jagannath contributed 14 runs before departing, but Ketan continued his assault, eventually scoring 30 runs off 16 balls.

Chennai’s Innings

As Chennai reached the 50-over mark, Saroj Pramanik took two wickets in quick succession, briefly halting their momentum. However, Sarfaraz Khan provided crucial support, scoring 20 runs off 11 balls.

Late contributions from Ganesh and Sambhaji, who hit a notable six, helped Chennai post a competitive total of 103 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 10 overs.

Kolkata’s Response

In their chase for 104 runs, Tiigers of Kolkata struggled to build momentum. Early on, Rajat Mundhe and Saroj Pramanik faced difficulties, with Jagannath Sarkar claiming the crucial wicket of Saroj for 11 runs.

Although Krushna Gawali and Rajat added 18 runs together, Ankur Singh’s wicket of Rajat further disrupted their innings. Arish Khan managed a brief resistance, scoring 25 runs off 9 balls, but Kolkata could only muster 74 runs for 9 wickets, resulting in Chennai’s victory.

Individual Performances

Anurag Sarshar stood out with the ball for Chennai, securing 3 wickets for 17 runs. Sunil Kumar and Ankur Singh each contributed with two wickets.

Jagannath Sarkar was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of ISPL 2026, winning a Porsche 911 car, a notable highlight of this season.

Season Highlights

The ISPL, recognized as India’s pioneering T-10 tennis-ball tournament, showcased emerging talents like Vivek Shelar, who impressed with his pace and achieved multiple hat-tricks.

Other standout performances included Ankit Yadav from Kolkata, who took 16 wickets, and Prashant Gharat from Falcon Risers Hyderabad, who scored 203 runs, while Nizam Ali from Ahmedabad Lions excelled with 20 wickets.

Awards for ISPL Season 3 included Best Batter awarded to Saif Ali from Tiigers of Kolkata, Best Bowler to Parveen Kumar from Falcon Risers Hyderabad, and Best Catch to Prathamesh Thackeray from Ahmedabad Lions.
