YSRCP has accused Chandrababu Naidu government of using bulldozers against farmers in Undavalli. The party called it abuse of power and contempt of law, saying standing crops were destroyed despite the matter being in court.
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [भारत]July 13 (ANI): YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Monday criticized the Andhra Pradesh government over the action against farmers in Undavalli. The party has accused the government of abuse of power and contempt for the rule of law.
In a statement, YSRCP national spokesperson Karthik Yellapragada said the Chandrababu Naidu-led government deployed more than 100 police personnel and bulldozers against 11 marginal farmer families in Undavalli.
“The deployment of over 100 police personnel and bulldozers by the Chandrababu Naidu government against 11 marginal farmer families in Undavalli is a blatant abuse of power,” the statement said.
The spokesperson further said, “Destroying standing crops when a land acquisition case is pending in the High Court is a blatant disregard for the rule of law. The use of weekend raids and unfair compensation to force out small farmers is unacceptable.”
The party further said that it stands strongly with the affected farmers and will continue to oppose this “undemocratic dictatorship” until they get justice.
There was no immediate reaction from the Andhra Pradesh government on these allegations.
Jagan Mohan Reddy accused of police misuse
Earlier on July 5, YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had made several more allegations against the Andhra Pradesh government. He accused the government of misusing the police machinery to suppress political dissent, while allegedly failing to address rising crimes against weaker sections of the society.
“You (Chandrababu) are pushing the policing system on an extremely dangerous path to carry out political repression and silence those who question you. Through the unhealthy practices that have emerged under your rule, you have sown poisonous seeds across the state, and they are slowly taking root and growing into a dangerous culture,” the YSRCP chief said.
He further said, “When children go missing, there is no promptness in investigation. When complaints related to crimes against women are not even filed, there is no response. Even when a tribal woman is stripped and assaulted, there is no arrest. But if someone questions the government on social media, he faces a case, arrest, custodial torture and non-bailable charges.” (ANI)
