Watch: Jasprit Bumrah bamboozles Chris Woakes, Josh Tongue with jaffas to bag historic 5-fer in Leeds

India National Cricket Team pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah once again showed why he is incomparable as he delivered an exceptional performance with the ball in the first Test against the England National Cricket Team.

Jasprit Bumrah bamboozled England National Cricket Team players Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue with unplayable deliveries to complete his historic 5-wicket haul in Test cricket and wrap up the innings.

Jasprit Bumrah, the best in the business

Bumrah looked in beast mode in the ongoing Test match against England, and despite not getting much support from the other bowlers, he kept going hard and gave it all on the field.

The Indian pace-bowling great found little support from the fielders as several catches were dropped off his bowling, but it didn’t affect Bumrah, who kept producing wicket-taking opportunities.

After fielders disappointed Bumrah, he took matters into his own hands and shattered the stumps of Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue to wrap up the England innings.

On the fifth ball of the 99th over, Bumrah bowled a stunning backspinning full-length delivery on a perfect line to Woakes, who went for a drive but missed his shot and the ball rattled his stumps, sending him back to the hut for 38 runs off 55 balls.

After that, on the fourth ball of the 101st over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled an unplayable delivery on off-stump to Josh Tongue, who was left clueless and saw his stumps getting rattled as England got all out for 465.

Jasprit Bumrah Destroys Woakes, Tongue with Jaffas to Seal Historic 5-Wicket Haul

Overall, in his 24.4 overs, Jasprit Bumrah bagged 5 wickets by giving away 83 runs. With his stunning five-wicket haul, he equalled Kapil Dev for most five-fers for India in away Tests and Ravichandran Ashwin for most five-fers in the ICC World Test Championship for India. Also, he now has the most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in England.

Single-handedly keeping India in the contest – Wasim Jaffer

Speaking on Sky Sports, former England National Cricket Team skipper Nasser Hussain lauded Jasprit Bumrah and said that he is on a different level to the rest of the Indian bowlers. He said:

“With how unorthodox he is, India could have had more wickets if they had caught well off him. Root was the big wicket. It was a poor shot from Root and you could tell from him walking off that he had just opened the door.

“If they had got Brook to make it the two Yorkies at the end, that would have been the lift the India dressing room needed.

“It will be a concern for India the drop off from when Bumrah is bowling to the rest, but it is a small sample size, the others will get into the series.”

Meanwhile, former India National Cricket Team batter Wasim Jaffer took to X to shower praise on the pacer for keeping India in the game single-handedly. He stated:

“Single-handedly keeping India in the contest, game after game, series after series. Simply a master of his craft.
