Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, found herself at the centre of controversy after appearing on an episode of Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent in February. She was part of the panel where YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia made controversial remarks about parents and sex. Following the row, Apoorva moved to a new apartment in Mumbai. However, she has now revealed the real reason behind the move — she didn’t leave by choice but was asked to vacate her previous flat, which she had moved into in 2024.
Appearing on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, Apoorva said, “Mere pichle ghar mein police aayi thi notice lagane aur summon karne (during India’s Got Latent controversy). Toh building walon ne complain kar di ki, ‘Building mein police aa rahi hai, kitni galat baat hai. Isiliye hum bachelors ko rehne nahi dete, isiliye akeli ladkiyon ko rehne nahi dete.’ Fir mujhe bola gaya ki aap jao. Sirf ek saal hi rahi thi uss ghar mein.”
For those unversed, Apoorva was at the centre of the Latent controversy for abusing a contestant and asking him if he had ever seen a vagina in her life after being born out of one. She was subjected to immense hate and criticism, and multiple FIRs were filed against her, along with Samay and Ranveer.
There were FIRS filed, and Apoorva also gave a written apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW).
