A disturbing incident has come to light in Chhattisgarh’s Balodabazar district, where a young man was tied to a pillar and brutally beaten with belts, sticks, and rods near the Rangmanch stage at Gudhi Chowk in Khaparidih village under Gidhauri police station limits.
The accused allegedly assaulted the victim while hurling obscene abuses, accusing him of being an informant for the mining officials. They threatened to kill him and inflicted serious injuries, reportedly due to prior enmity. A video of this assault has gone viral on social media.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police Bhavna Gupta took immidiate action, directing the Gidhauri station in-charge to arrest the perpetrators. Following these orders, the police swiftly apprehended five accused persons, who have reportedly confessed to their crimes during interrogation. One one the accused is on run.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dilharan Kashyap (26), Yashwant Kumar Patel (29), Keval Kumar Kewat (35), Gaya Patel (43), and Digvijay Vaishnav (30).
Gidhauri police station has registered a case against accused under sections under Sections 115(2), 127(2), 296, 3(5), 351(3), and 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused were presented before court on Monday.
The Congress party has accused the state government of failing to control the rising crime in the state.
