Mahindra’s mega plan will invest thousands of crores in Maharashtra

The country’s largest SUV company Mahindra & Mahindra has made a big announcement on Friday. The company will invest Rs 15 thousand crores in Maharashtra. Mahindra has announced an investment of Rs 15,000 crore over the next 10 years to set up its largest manufacturing unit for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur.

This unit will be built on 1500 acres of land in Vidarbha, which will increase the manufacturing capacity of Mahindra. Along with this, there will also be a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. Mahindra’s target is to start production here from 2028. Mahindra will purchase land in Igatpuri-Nashik region to expand its existing product and engine capacity as well as expand its advanced technology business. Under this plan of Rs 15,000 crore, the company will buy more than 2000 acres of land at three places, which will further strengthen its manufacturing capacity.

Mahindra’s supply chain will be better

Mahindra said in a statement that the Sambhajinagar supplier park will strengthen the manufacturing value chain through better collaboration with partners, better logistics and greater localisation. This park will supply parts to the new unit in Nagpur as well as Mahindra’s units in Chakan and Nashik. Mahindra announced this investment at the Advantage Vidarbha event, a major three-day event.

Mahindra will make this many vehicles every year

Once fully operational, this unit will have the capacity to manufacture more than 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors every year. It will support the next generation platforms of Mahindra Auto, which also includes NU_IQ architecture. Here ICE, Electric Vehicles (EV) and vehicles with future technologies can be manufactured for domestic and global markets. Mahindra is currently the world’s largest tractor manufacturer in terms of numbers. Through this new Nagpur unit, it will further strengthen its leadership in the agricultural equipment sector.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO, Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, this unit is a big step in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey. It has been designed for the next generation of vehicles and tractors, where vehicles will be manufactured on a large scale with advanced technology. This will make us more capable of providing world-class products.
