A filmy style theft has taken place from a moving Flipkart lorry on National Highway 48. Thieves have looted goods worth about Rs 25 lakh near Ranebennur in Haveri district and the police have started investigation.
Haveri: A shocking incident of theft of goods worth lakhs of rupees in film style from a moving goods train on National Highway 48 has come to light. Thieves looted many valuables including mobile phones of Flipkart company from the moving vehicle itself. It is suspected that this theft took place between Kakol village to Motebennur in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri district.
Goods worth Rs 25 lakh missing
The incident occurred when the lorry was going from Bengaluru to Flipkart’s warehouse located in Kotur village in Dharwad district. The theft took place in a lorry carrying goods belonging to Mallikjan Mulla, in which the thieves broke the ‘linked device’ of the vehicle. The thieves made away with goods worth Rs 25 lakh kept in about 6 big boxes. It is suspected that this incident might have been committed late at night at around 1 am.

Police intensified investigation
A case has been registered at Ranebennur Rural Police Station in connection with this incident. After registering the complaint, the police have intensified the investigation and are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed on National Highway 48. This method of theft by climbing on a moving lorry has become a big challenge for the police and investigation is going on from many angles.
