According to the story…
According to the story described in the Puranas, Mother Parvati took birth 108 times to become the consort of Lord Shiva. She came to earth as Parvati ji for the 108th time. Before taking the form of Parvati, she was born as a daughter of Prajapati Daksh. In that birth too, he was influenced by love and had a love marriage with Shiva.
However, her father wanted that Mother Parvati should marry Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, but Parvati ji refused this marriage and said that her real happiness lies in Mahadev. With her devotion and determination she got Lord Shiva as her husband. Because of this, Prajapati Daksh became an opponent of Lord Shiva and considered him his biggest enemy.
Mother Parvati gave up her life
To show contempt to Lord Shiva, Daksh organized a Mahayagya. In this he invited everyone, but left his daughter and son-in-law. However, Parvati ji reached there even without being invited. After this he had to bear the insult of Lord Shiva. Hurt by her husband’s insult, she sacrificed her life by jumping into the sacrificial fire. When Lord Shiva came to know about this, in anger he revealed Veerbhadra from his hair and got Daksh’s head cut off from him. Prajapati got Daksh’s head cut off. After this, the separation from Lord Shiva did not decrease over the years. He became detached from the world.
Here Mother Parvati was born in the house of mountain king Himalaya. This was his 108th birth. Narad ji told teenage Parvati ji the path of penance to get Shiva as her husband. Then Parvati ji went into the forest and left everything and started rigorous penance. In the end, Shiva was pleased with Parvati ji’s penance and then both of them got married on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month.
