A Nation in Shock
June 12, 2025, proved to be a black day for India since disaster befell it immediately after takeoff when an Air India flight flying to London from Ahmedabad crashed. The devastating incident sent shockwaves across the country and beyond, leaving behind a wave of grief, shock, and mourning. As the news spread, the entertainment industry responded swiftly and sensitively, cancelling multiple high-profile events that were scheduled for the day and the following ones.Salman Khan’s ISRL Event Called Off
Among the first major changes was the postponement of Salman Khan’s Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) event in Mumbai. Scheduled to take place at Taj Lands End, the event was set to officially announce Salman Khan as the brand ambassador of the ISRL. The league’s co-founders, Veer Patel and Eeshan Lokhande, were also supposed to join Salman Khan on stage for what was to be a grand reveal and a special fireside chat with the superstar himself.
The event commenced at 2:15 PM, which tragically coincided with the time the news of the crash broke. When the mood changed from elation to reflective gravity, the organizers of the event had no choice but to cancel the proceedings. At 3:45 PM, they made an announcement to the public and the media in attendance.
“As you are all aware, something terrible happened earlier today.”. It’s a sad time for everybody,” the organizers said. “ISRL and Mr. Salman Khan stand united with the nation in these tough times. We have taken a responsible joint decision to reschedule this event as it’s not a time for celebration.”
They further extended their condolences, stating, “We stand by the nation united. All our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased. Stay strong, India.”
They also acknowledged the press present at the venue, adding, “Somebody will be in touch with you (regarding when the event will take place).” A heartfelt thank you and an apology for the inconvenience followed as the team wrapped up the now-rescheduled event with grace and empathy.
