Portugal defeated Spain in the final to win their second Nations League title on Sunday.
Ronaldo even scored a goal to make it 2-2 in the normal time before Portugal emerged victorious on penalties. The Portuguese captain is the all-time top scorer in men’s international football and took his tally to 138.
Having begun his professional career at Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo went on to achieve immense success during his impactful stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus before joining Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
He was a member of the Manchester United squad that won three straight Premier League championships during his first stint there. At Real Madrid, where he won three consecutive Champions League titles under Zinedine Zidane, he went one step further. Apart from individual success, Ronaldo developed a legendary rivalry with Lionel Messi and the duo shared the stage for more than 15 years, continuously pushing each other for goals, match-winning performances and titles.
The rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is widely regarded as the greatest individual rivalry in the history of football-and arguably in all of sports. It is unique because they dominated football at the same time, often in the same league, competing for the same individual and team honours.
