Cristiano Ronaldo dances to ‘Messi’ chants before scoring Portugal’s winner vs Germany – WATCH

New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo silenced the German fans with the winning goal for Portugal after being mocked with ‘Messi’ chants during his side’s clash against Germany in the Nations League on Thursday.

Ronaldo was seen enjoying the ‘Messi’ chants and dancing to them before grabbing the winner for Portugal in the 68th minute to help them win 2-1.

Getting mocked by the chants of his greatest rival is nothing new for Ronaldo, who has gotten accustomed over the years. However, the Portuguese superstar has rarely taken the taunts favourably and has produced angry reactions on numerous occasions in the past. But on Thursday, it was a different case as Ronaldo decided to use the dissenting voices as an added motivation during the match.

The incident happened during one of the breaks in the match when German fans were heard shouting – ‘Messi, Messi’ from the stands with Ronaldo standing on the pitch. The Portuguese forward was spotted dancing to the tune of the chant while making gestures with his hands. Minutes later, he bagged Portugal’s second goal in the match to seal his team’s 2-1 victory.

Francisco Canceicao scored the opener for Portugal in the 63rd minute to help them equalise after Florian Wirtz put Germany in the lead with a goal in the 48th minute at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Ronaldo struck in the 68th minute to make it 2-1 for Portugal, and the captain’s goal proved to be enough for the visitors to secure a convincing victory.

It was Ronaldo’s 140th goal for Portugal in international football as he extended his lead at the top of the goal-scoring charts for his country. With the 2-1 victory against Germany, Portugal also confirmed their berth in the 2025 UEFA Nations League final.

Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Al-Nassr

Ronaldo hinted last month that his chapter at Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr might be over as he gears up for a new challenge. The 40-year-old striker has been among the most prolific goal-scorers around the world despite his age and continues to go strong. Ronaldo reportedly wants to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup that gets underway later this month and wants to join a club that will be taking part in the competition.
