New Delhi: After Bangladesh were replaced by Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched a three-team T20 league which will take place during the marquee event. The T20 spectacle will start in India and Sri Lanka on February 7 and ahead of the showpiece event, Bangladesh ousted from the tournament after they refused to travel to India.
Meanwhile, the league launched has been named the Odommo Bangladesh T20 Cup and will begin on February 5. The three-team competition will feature all the top cricketers from the country, who are not participating in the showpiece event after their government’s decision which barred them from playing in India. The three teams have been named Dhumketu XI, Durbar XI and Duronto XI and players Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Akbar Ali will lead the sides respectively.

League final to be held on Feb 9
All the teams will play each other once in the round-robin phase with the group matches to be held on February 5, 6 and 7. Furthermore, the top two teams will lock horns in the final of the competition on February 9, with the event being just a five-day show. All the matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also introduced the impact player rule for the event, which is a first for an official match in the country. In addition, a member of the starting eleven can be swapped out at any point in the match for a twelfth player chosen from a roster of options announced at the toss.
The tournament has also been given an official T20 status by the BCB and it carries a total prize money and fees worth Tk 2.5 crore (USD 204,504 approx.) according to a press release.
