In this situation, due to increase in blood pressure, the body expels more water, which causes thirst. Apart from this, diabetes insipidus causes excessive thirst and urination due to lack of hormones.
Dehydration is also a major reason, which can occur due to vomiting, diarrhea or excessive sweating. In kidney disease, the body is unable to maintain proper water balance, due to which thirst increases. Thyroid related problems, side effects of some medicines and mental stress or anxiety can also increase this problem.
How to protect?
To avoid feeling thirsty again and again, the most important thing is to drink adequate amount of water. Keep taking water at short intervals throughout the day. Avoid excessively sweet, salty and caffeinated drinks, as these can further dehydrate the body.
Take a balanced diet and include fruits and vegetables in your diet. If you have diabetes or thyroid problem, take medicines regularly and keep getting checked. Give rest to the body during extreme heat or hard work. Do not take medicines without doctor’s advice, because some medicines can increase thirst.
