Vijayawada: A 26-year-old medical student died under suspicious circumstances at Vijayawada government medical college after she developed symptoms such as stomach ache and vomiting, tv9 telugu reported.
Staff identified the deceased as Deepika, a final-year postgraduate student in the Anesthesia department. Originally from Anantapur, Deepika had complained of uneasiness after she consumed egg fried rice for dinner and shared it with a fellow student, police said.
Student develops symptoms on Wednesday night:
On Wednesday midnight, she developed symptoms of vomiting, stomach pain, after which her junior administered an injection to ease her pain.
Shortly after the student administered the injection, Deepika fell unconscious on the table. She was immediately shifted to an ICU, where doctors gave her saline and conducted a CT scan on Thursday early morning.
Doctors declared her dead at around 6 am on Thursday morning and the cause of death is yet to be ascertained pending the post-mortem report.
A case has been registered and police began investigation into the case.
