Heather Knight Retires: Former England captain Heather Knight has announced her retirement from international cricket. The Test match being played against India at Lord’s will be the last international match of his career. She will be the second England cricketer to retire after this test match. Apart from him, the ongoing Test at Lord’s will also be the last of Tammy Beaumont’s career. 35-year-old Heather Knight’s international career lasted 16 years, in which she became the player who played the most matches for England. He started his international career in 2010, since then he has played a total of 320 matches including Test, ODI and T20I.
Heather Knight gave pain to Team India
Heather Knight has scored 7988 runs with 6 centuries in her international career. After scoring a century in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup, she became the first England player to score a century in all three formats. Heather Knight is also known as the female captain who gave unforgettable pain to Team India.
In the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup, under his captaincy, the England team became champion for the fourth time by defeating India by just 9 runs in the final. That final match was also played at Lord’s and now Knight has announced his retirement from the same ground. Heather Knight captained 199 matches between 2016 and 2025, in which England won 134 matches. He left the captaincy after the Ashes defeat against Australia.

Heather Knight became emotional about her retirement. He said that his journey as a cricketer for England was wonderful. She considers herself lucky for this. He said that the England dressing room has been a part of my life for 16 years. In such a situation, it is not easy to stay away from it. This journey has helped me become a better person. I am satisfied with my decision of retirement and also excited for the future.
On Heather Knight’s decision to retire, ECB Chairman Richard Thompson said that by representing the country for 16 years, she has proved her ability. She has played the role of an ideal player and captain for the England team in the changing era of women’s cricket.
