According to officials, under the new system the authority will take a decision on purchasing the land at a fixed rate within two months or less after receiving the application. If the land is not taken within the stipulated time frame, the farmer will be allowed to sell the land to another buyer. Apart from this, if the authority refuses to purchase the land, the concerned officer will also have to give a clear reason for the same. This provision is being considered as a transparent step in the interest of farmers.
