T20 World Cup 2026: The match between India and Pakistan is hanging in the balance. At present no one knows whether this match will be held on 15th February or not. The Pakistan government has told the PCB not to play matches against India in the T20 World Cup, although the PCB has not given an official statement on this matter nor has it informed the ICC about it. But even if this match does not take place, it will not only cause loss to the PCB but will also seriously hurt the ICC’s revenue. However, former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi says that if the India-Pakistan match does not take place, it will benefit the IPL.
If India-Pakistan match does not take place then how will IPL benefit?
Lalit Modi told in an interview how IPL can get huge benefit from not having India-Pakistan match. Modi said, ‘If the India-Pakistan match does not take place, there could be a big hit to the broadcasting rights of the bilateral series and the revenue of the ICC. Broadcasters will hesitate in bidding higher and in this situation only IPL will benefit. He further said, ‘IPL has now become the biggest cricket tournament of the year, so it keeps the players and fans happy at the world level and this is the opportunity for everyone to broadcast. In such a situation, broadcasters will place bets there.
Will Pakistan change its stance after February 12?
Pakistan has decided not to play the match against India but due to this its cricket future may hang in the balance. ICC can take many major actions against Pakistan team. PSL may be ruined. However, it is believed that PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi has taken this decision for Bangladesh elections and to shine his politics. It is being said that Naqvi, who is also the Home Minister of Pakistan, may reverse his decision after the victory of Mohammad Yunus in the general elections to be held in Bangladesh on February 12.
