Bhopal: In the case of the death of model and actress Twisha Sharma, CBI has arrested her mother-in-law and former district judge Giribala Singh. Madhya Pradesh High Court had rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Giribala, after which the CBI team took this action on Thursday morning.
The CBI team reached Giribala Singh’s house in Bagh Mughalia Extension, Bhopal. He was arrested there after interrogation that lasted for several hours. Let us tell you that on May 12, Twisha Sharma was found hanging in her in-laws’ house in Bhopal.
According to reports, Twisha Sharma and Samarth Singh met through a dating app in 2024. Both of them got married in December 2025. But on May 12, just five months after the marriage, the dead body of 33-year-old Twisha, a resident of Noida, was found at her husband’s house.
The family members, including Twisha’s mother Rekha Sharma, have alleged that their daughter was being tortured physically and mentally for dowry. WhatsApp messages sent by Twisha to her mother have also come to light, in which she said that she is trapped in this marriage. On the complaint of the family, the police had registered a case against Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh.
The family also alleges that Twisha’s in-laws were pressurizing her for dowry, she was beaten and she was also forcibly aborted. Police had also confirmed that Twisha had injury marks at several places on her body. The postmortem report also found marks of assault and evidence of abortion a week before death.
Two days after Twisha’s death, on May 15, a sessions court in Bhopal granted anticipatory bail to Giribala Singh. Samarth Singh is currently in CBI custody. CBI took over this case from Madhya Pradesh Police this week. CBI has re-registered the FIR of the state police and started investigation.
