The Health Ministry has started a monthly webinar series on Best Practices under NHM. Its objective is to share successful innovations and experiences in health services among the states and union territories, so that health services can be strengthened across the country.
New Delhi [भारत]July 11 (ANI): The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched a monthly webinar series on best practices under the National Health Mission (NHM) on the occasion of World Population Day 2026. The objective of this initiative is to promote innovation-driven public healthcare.
According to a press release, the initiative is being envisioned as a year-long knowledge sharing platform. It will bring together States and Union Territories to present successful innovations, exchange implementation experiences and accelerate adoption of evidence-based practices to strengthen health services across the country.
Emphasis on knowledge sharing and innovation
The inaugural session was chaired by Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director (NHM), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He stressed that innovation is at the heart of a responsive and resilient public health system. He described the webinar series as an important institutional mechanism to identify, capture and disseminate innovative approaches emerging from States and Union Territories, whereby solutions developed in one region can benefit health systems across the country.
Patnaik encouraged states and union territories to contribute actively. He urged them to submit innovations that go beyond the existing program framework and address emerging public health challenges through locally developed solutions. He appreciated the dedication of the State and District teams, whose innovative work often goes unrecognized as they are deeply engaged in program implementation rather than documentation and dissemination.
Highlighting the ministry’s commitment to bridge this gap, he said the National Health Systems Resource Center (NHSRC) will provide technical support to capture and showcase such innovations. He called upon all States and Union Territories to actively participate in the webinar series and contribute to building a culture of continuous learning, knowledge exchange and innovation-driven program implementation.
These states presented innovations in the first webinar
The theme of the first webinar was “Anemia, Child and Adolescent Health”, which showcased innovative interventions from three states that have shown significant impact in addressing local public health challenges.
Initiative of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh
During the webinar, Jharkhand presented the Anemia Mukt Bharat T4 App and its Integrated Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) – Home-Based Young Child Care (HBYC) Home Visit initiative. Chhattisgarh showcased Viva Diwas under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), while Madhya Pradesh presented its innovative initiative on addressing adolescent obesity. These measures, which were developed in response to local public health challenges and supported by relevant solutions, emerged as promising models of good and replicable practices.
With active participation of program divisions under the Ministry, the presentations also showed strong synergy with national health programmes, confirming their relevance and potential for scaling up within the existing public health framework. More than 500 officials from national, state and district levels participated in the webinar, reflecting a strong commitment towards collaborative learning and strengthening the innovation-driven health system.
As the first installment of the monthly webinar series, this session launched a sustainable national knowledge-sharing platform that will help identify, document, disseminate and scale up successful health innovations. By promoting cross-learning and adoption of evidence-based best practices, the initiative is expected to further strengthen health systems and improve the quality and effectiveness of health services across the country.
