Fermín Aldeguer achieved his best MotoGP result so far this Saturday in Le Mans, finishing third in the Sprint race of the French GP. He ended up just behind the brothers Marc (Ducati Lenovo) and Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini/Ducati).
The #54 rider from BK8 Gresini said: ‘I’m super happy. We finished with the first podium of the season, the first podium of my life. For sure, I think also in Austin, Qatar and Jerez we were fast and we had a good pace to fight for the podium. But arriving here to Le Mans I wasn’t expected anything – it’s not one of my best tracks, but it’s incredible to share the podium with Álex and Marc – because Álex is my teammate and Marc is my idol for whole my life’.
At this stage of his MotoGP career, Aldeguer doesn’t feel under pressure, as he stated: ‘I just thank Gresini and Ducati, because they help me a lot. When you are a rookie, you don’t need pressure and I don’t have it – just the pressure that I put [on myself]. It’s just keeping like this and not losing the good way’.
On the topic of pressure, the youngster also said: ‘Now, you have two ways: more pressure, because you are there; and less pressure because you did it and you know you can do it. But I think I’m calmer now in MotoGP than when I was in Moto2 because I have nothing to lose or to win. And I enjoy with my bike on every track, I enjoy with my people, I enjoy with my team, and the results are coming’.
